Kathryn Julyan is a long time student of the Vedic tradition and has studied Yoga, Orissi style sacred dance, Meditation, Ayurveda, Vedic chanting, and Vedanta. In recent years, she has also become a student of Sanskrit grammar and Carnatic vocal music. Kathryn is a student of traditional Advaita Vedanta under the tutelage of Radha (Carol) Whitfield and Pujya Swamiji Dayananda Saraswati of Arsha Kulam and Arsha Vidya Gurukulam (USA and India). She has also trained in Wise Earth Ayurveda directly with Swamini Mayatitananda.

Kathryn is a PhD student in Asian and Comparative Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies and holds a Masters of Arts degree in Philosophy from Tufts University. Since 2002, she has been a Lecturer at Eastern Washington University where she teaches courses in Philosophy, Religion, and Women's Spirituality. In 2009 she also became the founding adviser for EWU's student led group, the Compassionate Interfaith Society.
